About our Kickstart Scheme

The Kickstart Scheme is a recently launched government initiative which provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24-year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment. Employers can apply for funding which covers 100% of the National Minimum Wage for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months.

Marvel Recruit will act as your partner, providing you with up to date information on the scheme, assessing the eligibility and suitability of the young people and keeping you informed of your responsibilities as an employer. We want to help you to navigate the process, whilst linking you to government funds and identifying the support you and your potential recruits would need.

Our goal is to help young people get into work and over-come the challenges caused by unemployment due to COVID-19. There is clear evidence that young people who have repeated and/or long-term spells of unemployment are more likely to be out of work later in life, to be in poor quality work and have lower earnings. Pre-lockdown, there were 750,000 young people (aged 18-24) who were NEET (not in education, employment or training) in the UK.

Kickstart Employee  

Kickstart Programme: November 2020 – December 2021

To qualify, the candidate:

  • Must be on Universal Credit
  • Must be between the ages of 16-24
  • Must be able to commit to a 6-month work placement, at a minimum of 25 hours per week

The candidate will receive:

  • Training and Personal Development, including: CV Writing, Job Searching, Workplace Health & Safety
  • 6 months  of work based training
  • The Government will pay 100% of the Kickstart Employee’s minimum wage salary, NI contributions and automatic enrolment contributions for 25 hours per week for a total of 6 months
  • The employer has no obligation to hire at the end of the placement but has the opportunity to do so

  • Training on Social Media Management tools (Including Graphic Creation)
  • How to effectively use Business Social Media Pages (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn & Twitter)
  • How to capture content in terms of Photo & Video
  • Marketing/Influencer Outreach
  • Training on various Administrative Assistant duties
    • includes use of Project Management Software
    • Microsoft Office

Employees can be based on your premises, work remotely, or Marvel Recruit can also offer desk space, meeting rooms and breakout spaces available for hire at our state-of-the-art office in East London.
